Controversy FAQ Interview Question 22

Do the trainers attack participants or use confrontational exercises that involve directed confession of sin, screaming, or physical movement in which a participant must participate?

As we said before, a participant doesn't have to participate. Yes, in the Breakthrough Training we do directed exercises around confession; people may or may not shout. That's really up to them. The trainer is playing loud, cathartic music, and the people are giving their confessions in a group, men with men, women with women. They can make their confession as loudly or softly as they wish.

No, we do not yell at people as a practice, although people are people, and there might be some argumentation that comes up. That's not a practice we like to employ as far as yelling.

Certain parts of some of our trainings can be very emotional for people. People go through catharsis. There can be crying and catharting, and usually if they cathart it's not because anybody did anything to them; it's because they start to realize some of the losses they've had that that they've been avoiding, and they're catharting because they've been avoiding them. Often there's a sense of mourning at certain times in the training. We aren't in control of when those happen, and they come up in the oddest places.
